In Body In Trouble it explains how being physically or mentally disabled makes other people look at you as helpless, and that you need to be fixed. Being disabled is not the only reason that it is hard for some people, for some it's the color of their skin, wealth, gender, or who they like. These people have to learn how to adapt to the world where being unique in a non normal way is not always accepted as good, and they are judged all the time on what they look like or do. Some of these people who are physically or mentally disabled feel confined, because not many people want to accept that there are people who have it different. Nancy explains how being in a wheelchair makes her invisible,"...not one of them seemed to think that any life was going on below the level of his or her own gaze." This shows how some people can be so ignorant of others needs, and won't look twice to help them. So the only way for Nancy and others like her to live in a world like this is to hope people change, and to find their own livable world that will accept them.
